5- Pharmaceutical form: Rectal Suppositories.
6- Pharmacological Action :-
Glycerin Suppositories effectively promote fecal evacuation in 15 to 30
minutes following the contact with rectal mucosa. The hygroscopic action of Glycerin accounts for its efficacy in stimulating rectal contraction. In addition, Glycerin softens and lubricates fecal material with consequent relief of constipation.
7- Pharmacokinetics :-
Glycerin is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and undergoes
extensive metabolism, principally in the liver, it may be used in the synthesis
of lipids, metabolized to glucose or glycogen, or oxidized to carbon dioxide
and water. It may also be excreted in the urine unchanged.

defecation habits in laxative- dependent patients.

directed by the physician.
