INDOMETHACIN

ANTIRHEUMATIC ANTI – INFLAMMATORY ANALGESIC – ANTIPYRETIC
COMPOSITION :
Each capsule contains:
Indomethacin 25 mg or 50 mg
PROPERTIES :
INDOMETHACIN is a potent non-steroidal antirheumatic,anti- inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent. these therapeutic effects are associated with the remarkable decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins induced by INDOMETHACIN through its potent inhibitory action on prostaglandin- forming cyclooxygenase enzyme. As a result, on administration of INDOMETHACIN, the inflammations are effectively supressed with rapid relief of associated pains and the fever is reduced. swelling and tenderness of inflamed joints disappear and their normal functions are restored. INDOMETHACIN, administered as enteric coated capsules, is well tolerated with much less gastric irritation than in the regular preparations of the drug.
INDICATIONS :
-INDOMETHACIN is recommended for the treatment of many inflammatory disorders of the musculoskeletal system such as :
– Rheumatoid arthritis. – Osteoarthritis. – Acute gouty arthritis.
– Ankylosing spondylitis.
– Bursitis, tendinitis and trumatic Synovitis.
– To reduce symptoms in some febrile conditions and to relieve pain,
inflammations, trismus and oedema following dental procedures.
CONTRAINDICATlONS :
pregnant women, nursing mothers, children under 14 years of age,
hypersensitivity to INDOMETHACIN and in patients with active gastrointestianl lesions or a history of recurrent gastrointestinal disease.
SIDE EFFECTS :
Headache and dizziness may occur at the beginning of treatment.
Abdominal cramping and, in rare cases, diarrhea might occur. Neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, itching and urticarial rashes are rare events.
DOSAGE :
Unless otherwise specified by the physician, initially one capsule
( 25 mg ) is taken 2 – 3 times daily. This can be increased by a 25 or 50 mg capsule in accordance with the case or until a satisfactory response is obtained with daily maximum dose of 200 mg.
PACKING :
Box containing 24 enteric coated 25 mg or 50 mg capsules.
STORAGE :
Do not store above 25° C, away from moisture.
Keep out of the reach of children.
